Yes Louisiana,

The USA Patriot Act, House Bill 53, is scheduled for hearing tomorrow morning at 9am in Room 6.  If you haven't contacted your Representatives yet, it is egregious you do so NOW.  If passed,  public preaching may be prohibited, pro-lifers may not be able to protest abortion clinics, and people like myself may be criminalized for petitioning the government for a redress of grievances.  I cannot stress the importance of speaking out against this unconstitutional bill and to rally like-minded Americans together to petition our Representatives.  If this bill is passed, I suspect that gun control will be their next move.

"[Cal Gov]Gray Davis has proposed that his state's police agencies be given the same authority to fight terrorism that Congress recently gave the feds...What he has in mind is a state version of the insultingly named USA Patriot Act... But you better watch out. Because already other states are asking for the same authority. All this is being done in the name of anti-terrorism, but the expanded powers could be used for any purpose approved by a court - a state court at that."
